Resources for Graduate Students: Finding Resources

Library resources and other research help geared toward Doctoral students.

Search

Search over 12 million resources in the Mobius Catalog

Items in the MOBIUS catalog can be sent to the Jung-Kellogg Learning Center OR to other locations within the consortium. For more information, please contact your librarian at library@mobap.edu.

Google Scholar Search

Many universities host open access institutional repositories where faculty and student scholarly work is published. Many of these works are not accessible in databases, but are accessible through Google Scholar.

Interlibrary loan allows you to borrow materials not held by the Jung-Kellogg Library. If you're unable to locate the material you need, fill out the form below to request access:

Off-Campus Access

If off-campus, you will be presented with an authentication screen. To log-in, use your first and last name and your MBU student ID # followed by 'MBU'. Ex. 123456MBU

If you have any questions about accessing the library's electronic resources from off-campus, please call the Learning Center at 314.392.2320, email the library staff at library@mobap.edu, or utilize our chat service 24/7.

Finding Articles in Databases

For effective searching, remember to incorporate Keywords, Boolean Operators, and Truncation symbols:

Keywords: Database search engines are only able to search for the exact terms entered into their search bar. Therefore, make sure to incorporate multiple keywords to get the most returned sources.

Boolean Operators: The three operators (AND, OR, NOT) tell the database search engine what sources you want returned.

  • AND: Both terms must be present in the source results. Ex. 'apples AND oranges' will only show sources that include both 'apples' and 'oranges'.
  • OR: Either term may be present in the source results. Ex. 'apples OR oranges' will show sources that have the term 'apple', 'oranges', or 'apples and oranges'.
  • NOT: The term must not be present in the source results. Ex. 'apples NOT oranges' will show only sources with 'apples' and remove sources with 'oranges'.

Truncation: These symbols are used to tell the database search engine to retrieve all variations.

  • ' * ' : The asterisk is applied to the root word. Ex. librar* = librarian, library, libraries, librarians
  • ' # ' : The pound sign is used within words. Ex. wom#n = woman, women, womyn
